It has been an exciting fourth quarter for MKEStarup.News! We launched this website on October 12, and since then we have featured 15 Milwaukee startup founders.
This website is part of a larger initiative to support entrepreneurship in Milwaukee. A working group of startup company funders and founders, led by former Milwaukee County Executive and MMAC board member Chris Abele, launched a $500,000 effort to strengthen startup and entrepreneurship efforts in the city.
In addition to the website, this program released the economic tracker DataTool on December 21. Developed by The Wisconsin Policy Forum, the state’s leading source of nonpartisan, independent research on state and local public policy, this tool is provided free to members of the public interested in Milwaukee’s economic development.
To strengthen its focus on entrepreneurship, the MMAC welcomed several members of the startup community to their board of directors, including VC leader Dana Guthrie of Gateway Capital Partners and serial entrepreneur Andy Nunemaker.
In 2022, the MMAC looks forward to launching an internationally recognized mentorship program developed by MIT in Cambridge, MA.
As we look forward to a year of continued growth of entrepreneurship in Milwaukee, let’s look back at some of the amazing founders we have met this year:
