Milky Way Tech Hub previews Wisconsin Tech Month 2024

Milky Way Tech Hub (MWTH) announced plans for Wisconsin Tech Month at the Swing into the Future: WI Tech Month 2024 event, hosted by the Milwaukee Brewers at X-Golf inside American Family Field on July 25.

Once again, MWTH and Latinos in Tech (LiT) will collaborate to deliver Wisconsin Tech Month programming this October.

Dr. Nadiyah Johnson, CEO of MWTH, and Carlos Vasquez, co-founder of LiT, shared their goals to unify Wisconsin’s technology ecosystem while democratizing access to technology and technology-focused skill development through the month-long event’s programming.

Programming is being built with an emphasis on a different theme each week:

  • The first week of October will focus on Milwaukee, spotlighting the Southeastern Wisconsin ecosystem and technology policy and advocacy. Dr. Shakkiah Curtis, owner of The Pink Hustle, will lead the content development for this portion of the event.
  • Week two will focus on Community Engagement, with a concentration on Women in Technology.
  • The following week will concentrate on STEM education and workforce development.
  • The final week of October has been dubbed Midwest Tech Week, with programming that creates opportunities to strengthen connections between neighboring states.

Additionally, Johnson and Vasquez called on attendees to consider creating their own Wisconsin Tech Month events. Proposals for programming are now being accepted. Events selected to be a part of the month-long event calendar and have 15 or more attendees are eligible to receive a stipend of $250.

Johnson and Vasquez assured the audience that additional details on October events will be released in the coming weeks.
