Soul Mobility hits key regulatory and market milestones, plans growth in 2026

Soul Mobility, the Oconomowoc-based company co-founded by Troy Tesmer and Todd Hargroder, is poised for growth in 2026.

The company developed the Power-Flex, a power-drive attachment built to integrate with manual wheelchairs, offering powered assistance while preserving the compact size and lifestyle flexibility many users rely on. The system features patented positioning, suspension and manual tilt, with wired joystick control designed for active wheelchair users who want relief from the physical strain of daily propulsion.

The mobility device was created for users in the complex rehabilitation category, which includes people with long-term mobility disabilities such as spinal cord injuries, cerebral palsy and multiple sclerosis.

The company reached several major milestones in 2025. Soul Mobility completed the lengthy FDA regulatory process, receiving Class II clearance on the mobility device.

With FDA clearance in place, the company turned its attention to reimbursement and commercialization. In Q2, Soul Mobility received coding verification from the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services, allowing the product to be submitted for reimbursement under established codes.

“That’s the second big milestone for us,” Tesmer said. “The FDA approval allows you to sell and market the product, and then CMS controls the coding for reimbursement.”

Power-Flex officially hit the market in spring 2025, debuting the product at the International Seating Symposium in late March. From there, the company spent much of the year building out its sales and distribution network, which relies on manufacturing representatives with established relationships at major medical centers.

In November, Tesmer pitched Soul Mobility at the Great Lakes Healthcare Innovation Pitch contest in Madison, where the company won the Healthcare Track, providing additional validation as it enters its next growth phase.

“We’re just starting to get that spark,” he said. “The fuel is igniting here in Q1 of 2026.”

Looking ahead to 2026, Soul Mobility plans to focus on expanding brand awareness, strengthening its sales network and moving toward break-even and profitability. The company recently completed portions of its pre-seed funding round, allowing it to begin building out its internal team.

“We’re bringing on a sales and marketing professional and a digital content marketing person,” Tesmer said. “Todd and I are engineers. Marketing has changed so much in the last 10 years that having people who really know how to do that well is critical.”

Soul Mobility will also appear in the accessibility and disability startup pavilion at CES 2026 in Las Vegas, Jan. 6-9, which will provide additional exposure as the company accelerates into the new year.

“We finally have all the pieces of the puzzle in place,” Tesmer said. “Now it’s about execution and speed.”
