WI Investor activity in 2025

Wisconsin’s startup ecosystem relies on a mix of local and national capital. Many in the ecosystem believe that founders must appeal to the coast to find capital. While the coasts have many more venture capital firms, Wisconsin does have active firms investing in emerging businesses.

To better understand investor activity in the state, MKEStartup.News reviewed PitchBook data to identify the most active Wisconsin-based investors in 2025, measured by the number of completed, disclosed investments. The analysis includes only entities classified by PitchBook as venture capital firms or angel investors; incubators, accelerators and organizations that issue grants are excluded.

For the purposes of this report, Wisconsin-based companies are defined as businesses headquartered in Wisconsin. Median investment amounts, as reported by PitchBook, are included to provide additional context around investor strategy, recognizing that they do not capture the full range or scale of a firm’s activity.

The report offers a snapshot of investor behavior in 2025, but it reflects only one dimension of the funding landscape. An investor making multiple smaller investments may appear highly active by deal count, while another firm deploying a single, large investment may not appear in a frequency-based analysis.

Additionally, according to PitchBook, Wisconsin-based investors Arenberg Holding, Golen Angels Investments, Inventure Capital, Midwest Wealth Ventures, Rock River Capital Partners, WARF Ventures, Winnow Fund and XPonential Ventures each made one documented investment in 2025.

For founders, this data can help set expectations when researching potential investors, particularly around typical check size and investment frequency. For ecosystem observers, it provides one data-driven view of how capital moved through Wisconsin’s startup landscape in 2025.
