Milwaukee Celebrates Women’s Entrepreneurship Week

Since 2017, Women’s Entrepreneurship Week (WEW) brings together Milwaukee women and nonbinary business owners and professionals for a week of workshops, keynote events and network-building.

The annual series returns May 6-10 with the theme “Building the Table.” Over 65 women and non-binary entrepreneurs and leaders will speak during the weeklong event.

On Friday, May 10 WEW programming focuses on startup entrepreneurship.

WEW addresses the often-repeated statistic that female founders received less than 2 percent of available venture capital funding by screening the documentary Show Her the Money. The film follows female founders and the trailblazing women who fund them.

After the screening at the Oriental Theater, local business leaders will join Show Her the Money producer Catherine Gray for a panel discussion on financing for women-founded businesses. Panelists include Wendy Baumann of WWBIC, Julie Spitzack of Summit Credit Union, Heather Wentler of Doyenne Group and Dr. Sherry Zhang, founder of GenoPalate.
