MKE Tech Hub hosts AI expert Tom Davenport
The MKE Tech Hub Coalition will celebrate its fourth anniversary with AI as a Tool for Innovation: Exploring Strategy for Companies in the Region, hosted at Northwestern Mutual on Nov. 10.
The non-profit organization was formed in October 2019 by a group of local businesses focused on advancing technology and innovation in the region. Collectively, Accenture, Advocate Aurora Health, Johnson Controls, Kohls, Northwestern Mutual and Rockwell Automation initially contributed over $5 million to launch MKE Tech Hub Coalition with the aim to grow the city’s technology ecosystem. The organization has a goal to “double local tech workers by 2025.”
Keynote speaker for the event, Tom Davenport, is “the President’s Distinguished Professor of Information Technology and Management at Babson College, the co-founder of the International Institute for Analytics, a Fellow of the MIT Initiative for the Digital Economy, and a Senior Advisor to Deloitte Analytics.” Recognized as an expert in Artificial Intelligence, Davenport will speak about AI in the workplace, as highlighted in his 2023 release All in on AI: How Smart Companies Win Big with Artificial Intelligence, co-authored by Nitin Mittal.
The book is full of case studies exploring the role of AI in a variety of industries, including Chicago-based CCC Intelligent Solutions, a company that uses AI to process and reimburse auto insurance claims.
MKE Tech Hub Coalition CEO Kathy Henrich is excited to welcome Davenport to Milwaukee.
“ChatGPT has brought AI to everyone’s attention, even my 80-year-old mother,” she said. “However, most organizations are still determining how to best get started and how to gain value at scale. Tom Davenport’s book All in on AI: How Smart Companies Win Big with Artificial Intelligence shares case studies and best practices from implementations of AI in traditional industries, including changes in talent, processes, policies, etc. He has continued that research since the launch of ChatGPT and will provide valuable insights into how to best gain value from this democratized technology.”
Henrich added that the event will provide useful information on AI for both technical companies and traditionally run companies interested in AI technologies.
Tickets are still available for this event and all attendees will receive a copy of All in on AI: How Smart Companies Win Big with Artificial Intelligence. Learn more about this event here.
