Wisconsin’s most active investors in 2024

According to PitchBook, 28 Wisconsin-based investors made a total of 99 disclosed startup investments in 2024.

This calculation does not include undisclosed investments or investments made by out-of-state investors in Wisconsin startups.

Below is a list of the 20 most active startup investors in Wisconsin for 2024.

Accelerators

Accelerators were not considered for this list. Typically, accelerators provide many small grants each year, leading to a high number of investments with relatively limited overall economic impact.

Madison-based gener8tor is the most active investor among Wisconsin-based accelerators. In 2024, the international accelerator reported 141 deals, 10 of which exceeded its standard $100,000 investment in program graduates. The largest disclosed deal involving gener8tor during the year was a funding round for New York-based financial company Casap. The company raised $8.5 million of venture funding in a deal led by Lightspeed Venture Partners and Primary Venture Partners on October 28, 2024. Primary Venture Partners, Curql Collective, Commerce Ventures, Alloy Labs, and gener8tor also participated in the round.

 

Most active investor

Founded in 2014, Burlington, Vermont-based Gaingels was PitchBook’s most active investor of 2024. The group made 369 investments last year, primarily to under-represented founders of companies in the technology, B2B, healthcare, and consumer sectors. Gaingels has made 2,263 investments with an active portfolio of 1,671 companies.
