Women, Wine & Tech Returns

The Milwaukee-based non-profit Visionary League, “a diversity and inclusion organization that connects people of minority representation to opportunities in the IT and creative services industries,” is hosting Women, Wine & Tech 5.0: A Focus on Mental Health on Thursday, April 25th at Pilot Project Brewing.

Emcee LaShonda Hill, Vice President of HR Contact & Transaction Center at ABM Industries, will lead panelists Tiarra Clayton, Senior HR Manager at Salesforce, Dr. Tonjia Coverdale, Chief Strategy Officer for Operations & Technology at Associated Bank, Johonna Duckworth, CEO of Creative Images, and Jennifer Ketz, Senior Director of Digital Strategy and Transformation at Northwestern Mutual, in a discussion focusing on the unique challenges women face in the workplace.

The organization chose to focus on the theme of mental health and wellness because workplace stress and work-life balance emerged as key challenges faced by attendees of its 2023 event.

“In a corporate environment where there’s technology, there’s always that chance of being traumatized by workplace biases or sexual harassment, and that can affect your mental health. These are some of the challenges women face in corporate industries in general,” COO Nicole Taylor said.

“There is going to be empowerment there. Women supporting women. It’s a good way to network and build a community with other women who have gone through the same issues in the workplace,” she said.

“It’s a blend of not only mental health awareness with the panelists, but it’s also about self-care. We are having self-care vendors there. There will be a person doing massages; the wine company here is focused on helping with anxiety and depression. We want women to feel pampered at the event,” added Chief Visionary Officer Arlando Monk.

The after-hours event is open to ticketholders of any gender, working in any industry.
